Special events don’t just happen, they need planning weeks in advance. This includes angling for press coverage, which on 8. July paid dividends for the British Association de Menton.

Not only were we given a full page on our event but, after inviting the journalist present to talk to members both at the event and by forwarding email contacts of those members willing to voice their opinions, we earned a second full page on Brexit, a day later.

Add to that the great photo taken by Nice Matin, which is on their site along with further coverage.

I needn’t mention garnering Stephen Clarke to perform in Menton, along with Tim O’Connor, was another scoop.

My thanks to members who entered into the spirit of the occasion, especially Marie Antoinette and her brioche. It all helped to make the day special.

I would like to thank our caterer, Thierry KEIM, and his staff, who looked after us so well, David, for ensuring there were no empty glasses, John O’Hare and family for running the raffle and the male volunteers, who put up the bunting the afternoon before the event.

Thank you Bruno Vicari and drummer Paulo, for your live music.

Apero's @ L.A. Yogurteria, Menton - tue 30 june

A very busy Apero, with 30 members attending.
Fortunately, a slight breeze and a few drops of rain saved the day, as it is incredibly hot and humid on the Riviera.The Yogurteria excelled themselves with some great hors d’oeuvres, which, by the way, are free.

BA Luncheon - Brasserie Pampérigouste - La Turbie

Members braved the heat in Menton, to enjoy a cooler breeze at La Turbie, for this month’s
lunch, organised by our Treasurer, Charlotte (Charlie) Baddeley.

Brasserie Pamperiguste, once again lived up to its reputation in both service and quality of food.
Everyone enjoyed the convivial get together.

Apero's @ L.A. Yogurteria, Menton - Sat may 30

An excellent turn out for today’s apero, which had to be changed to Saturday, due to a BA Menton lunch held on Friday.
Our usual meet up is on the last Friday of each month.
36 members attended with 5 last minute cancellations.

BA Luncheon - PortGaravan - May 29th

Our inaugural May luncheon, at “Port Garavan,” was not only the first time we had visited this restaurant, it was Pauline’s first attempt at organising a BA Menton lunch.
The weather was glorious, the food tasty, the wine plentyful and the service attentive. More than thirty members enjoyed the experience at Port Garavan. I’m sure many of us will return.
A successful event.

A big crowd, as more mbers than expected, turned up for our first Spring Apero, back at the Yogurteria.
It turned a tad chilly sitting outside after 7pm but, we’re not complaining! BN

BA Luncheon - Carnival - Tuesday April 14th 2026

Our April luncheon at restaurant Carnival, Menton, was enjoyed by more than 20 members and guests. After the aperitif and starter, the main course choices of fish or steak were both tasty and service was attentive and appreciated by all.
